Providing employment opportunities to more than 40,000 people, including nearly 3,000 veterans, the AbilityOne Program is the largest source of employment for people who are blind or have other significant disabilities in the United States. The program connects government and corporate customers in need of products and services to a nationwide network of more than 750 community nonprofit agencies that hire talented people with disabilities to get the job done.
Millions of Americans with disabilities remain underemployed and unemployed despite their desire to work. Since 1974, the U. S. Navy, Goodwill, and SourceAmerica have partnered through the AbilityOne Program to provide individuals with significant disabilities the opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job training, real-world work experience, and opportunity to demonstrate their abilities while earning competitive wages and benefits. At the Naval Station Great Lakes, individuals with and without disabilities work alongside one another. It’s a business solution that makes the American Dream more accessible, and it’s one we can all feel good about.
For many, employment with the AbilityOne program at Goodwill is the first step toward learning job skills. Goodwill's case management team offers training and ongoing support to help you transition to your new work life and focus on your skills and abilities.
Goodwill is a proud contractor for our federal government and partner of AbilityOne. Join the Goodwill team and help make a social impact because inclusion and diversity matter. Here are some of the career opportunities available through AbilityOne and Goodwill.
